Mini Beachcomber Concept

Based on the upcoming crossover SUV platform is the Mini Beachcomber Concept. It caters to active outdoor activities with lots of ground clearance and suspension travel and its flexible interior. This concept offers both hard plastic and cloth detachable roof and side panels. Late next spring, Mini has plans to launch their crossover SUV. At the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, Mini is showing its concept based on the upcoming SUV suspension and chassis. There is all-wheel-drive, which Mini has branded as “ALL4″ along with generous ground clearance, aggressive tires and plenty of room for them. With room for four, the fun begins with the removing of the top and cloth door which gives you a dune buggy style off roader. For the roof and doors, there are hardtop inserts that makes this Mini suitable for any weather. For easy access, the cargo door is split vertically and to accommodate longer items, the right door half can be locked open. To hold surfboards vertically, there is a clamp arrangement in the roll bar. For more storage, the rare seat backs fold down and as proof of the Beachcomber’s off-road capabilities, on the instrument panel there is a inclinometer and a compass.
